Agribusiness: Toyota Tundra becomes the official truck of the International Agri-Center

Toyota’s full-sized Tundra pickup truck has been named official truck of the International Agri-Center (IAC), home of World Ag Expo and California Antique Farm Equipment Show and located in the heart of Central Valley’s agriculture community.

“We’re proud to join in this partnership with Toyota,” said IAC President Charlie Pitigliano. “The Tundra is built in America at Toyota’s plant in San Antonio, Texas, and has proven its ability to meet the needs of our county’s workhorse vehicle.”

Toyota’s World Ag Expo display, from Feb. 10–12, 2009, will feature a complete lineup of 2009 Toyota trucks and SUVs, including the popular Tacoma and off-road-capable FJ Cruiser. Toyota will construct a massive Tundra “Prove-It” course, where attendees have the opportunity to ride and drive the Tundra for an experience that no showroom can provide. Toyota’s rugged 2009 Sequoia SUV also will be available to test drive on the “Prove-It” course.

Toyota’s multiyear partnership with IAC allows the Tundra to become a feature at the California Antique Farm Equipment Show along with the many other events hosted at the center.

“Toyota will have a strong presence at each of our events during the next two years,” said Executive Director Jerry Sinift. “Toyota’s commitment to serving the agriculture community is evident in their support of the International Agri-Center.”

The Tundra is available in 44 models and three cab styles, and its 5.7-liter 381- horsepower i-Force V8, which is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, is available in every model configuration. The truck has a top-rated towing capacity in excess of 10,000 pounds and the segment’s largest all-wheel disc-braking system.

“When we introduced the Tundra in February 2007, we knew that its capabilities would be perfectly matched to the needs and challenges of the agricultural community,” said Tom Devany, general manager for Toyota’s San Francisco Region. “Central California farmers and ranchers have been important to our initial marketing efforts, and now we’re honored that the Tundra has been named official truck of the IAC.”

The World Ag Expo occupies more than 2.6 million square feet of exhibit space, hosts more than 1,600 exhibitors and draws an estimated 100,000 attendees over its three-day run.

Chairman Updates

Fall is here, and that means one thing… The World Ag Expo is just around the corner. This time of year is especially exciting as we begin to ramp up for the February show. You may not know it by driving by, but the staff at the International Agri-Center is busy planning and preparing what promises to be another exciting show.

I have experienced quite a few shows during the past 21 years of volunteering, and the most thrilling aspect is always how the staff and volunteers find new and exciting reasons for our attendees to return. We will celebrate our 42nd anniversary this year, and from what I hear, the staff and exhibitors have new and exciting ideas planned.
