Successfully negotiating a contract requires a good understanding of the grape market and a marketing plan. SCGGA is offering seminars on April 9 and June 5, both to be held at the Kendall-Jackson Wine Center in Fulton from 6:30-9 p.m. Cheese and wine tasting will precede the seminars.
Topics and speakers for the April 9 seminar, Understanding Your Market, Part I, are “Understanding the Region 3 Crush Report” by Barry Bedwell, Joseph Ciatti Co.; “Understanding Your Costs” by John Somers, American AgCredit; “Understanding Your Market Niche” by Michelle Rowell, Motto Kryla Fisher LLP; and “Understanding Bottle Price in Contract Negotiations” by Steve Smit, Vino Farms.
The June 5 seminar, Successfully Marketing Your Grapes, Part II, will include an update on demand by Brian Clements of Turrentine Wine Brokerage and important contract terms by Jay Behmke of Carle Mackie Power & Ross, LLP. Other speakers will be announced.
