While a vote on the controversial California ballot initiative requiring the labeling of foods that contain ingredients derived from biotechnology is still six months away, the "Californians Against the Costly Food Labeling Proposition" group is engaging in a social media campaign to defeat the measure.

The proposed labeling requirements would impose added costs, new legal liabilities, and extensive bureaucratic paperwork and recordkeeping requirements on farmers and food companies who sell products in California.
