The Gandy Co.'s Positive Displacement Applicator (PDA) system provides positive shutoff and speed compensation for precise application of granular insecticides and herbicides.

The one, two, three or four-outlet translucent poly hoppers have a 2.3 cubic foot capacity, or approximately 100 pounds.

When mechanically driven from a ground wheel or live shaft, the Gandy PDA system is speed compensating, applying the same rate per acre even when field speeds vary. When the parent drive stops, dispensing stops.

Application rates are governed by a set of sprockets, ordered separately, which determine the rate per acre.

Multiple hoppers may be connected in line to run from one set of rate control sprockets.

The user must supply input drive sprockets and chains based on the parent implement drive specifications.

A 12-volt electric clutch option enables operators to shut off the applicator even before raising the planter, so material still falling in the tubes is not double applied on the headlands. Another option includes a Lock ‘n Load lid for closed system filling which can be ordered in lieu of the standard lid.

The Gandy PDA applicator system is available with Gandy ground drive package or either electric or hydraulic motor drive package. All give positive shutoff, although the electric and hydraulic motor drives do not provide the speed compensating feature.
