Nasser Dean is the new director of environmental and regulatory affairs for the Western Plant Health Association.

Dean will assess, analyze and coordinate association and member response to regulatory actions that could potentially impact fertilizer and crop protection providers and agricultural retailers in California, Arizona and Hawaii.

“Nasser's diverse experiences make him well equipped to manage the wide range of regulatory issues facing our industries,” said Renee Pinel, president and CEO of WPHA.

“His added perspective as a grower and former government official will be invaluable as WPHA develops strategies to shape and comply with regulations that impact our industries.”

Dean most recently served as a County Executive Director with the United States Department of Agriculture. For more than seven years, Dean was responsible for managing various federal agricultural programs for Riverside and San Diego county farmers and ranchers. His service to USDA provided him with experience in intergovernmental/public relations with stakeholders, including ag industry representatives, county, state, federal and congressional officials.
