Interested in learning more about pesticide regulations in California? The California Plant Health Association (CPHA) 2002 Summer Regulatory Conference is scheduled for July 30 — Aug. 1 at the Embassy Suites Riverfront Promenade, Sacramento, Calif.

The conference includes presentations on several federal and state regulatory issues, including water quality, pesticide urban use, agricultural waivers and agricultural drift. Paul Helliker, chief, California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR), will discuss both the short-term and long-term direction of DPR. Keynote speaker Jerome Goddard, Ph.D., University of Mississippi professor of preventative medicine and medical entomologist for the Mississippi Department, will address the ongoing public debate about potential health impacts of pesticides.

Registration fees include lunch, available hand-out materials and an evening, networking reception. Sixteen Pest Control Adviser (PCA) units and six Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) units have been applied for.
