There are just a few days remaining to get in on a special online auction to benefit the National FFA Foundation and local FFA chapters across America.
Four unique paintings were created by celebrity speed painter Dan Dunn as part of Ram Truck’s “Year of the Farmer” campaign. The live online auction ends Sept. 30 at 10 p.m. Central Standard Time. The sale is hosted by Heritage Auctions at: www.HA.com/FFA.
Each acrylic painting is on a 72-inch square canvas, signed by the artist.
Case IH has pledged to match every dollar raised in the sale of the paintings. The matching pledge will directly benefit the FFA chapter of each winning bidder’s choice. All of the funds from the auction will be presented to FFA at the 2013 National FFA Convention in Louisville, Ky., Oct. 30-Nov. 2.
The four paintings are original performance pieces created by Dunn in August during customer introductions to the 2014 line of new Case IH equipment.
“Dan Dunn has appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Last Call with Carson Daly, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, and in numerous concert performances,” says Dan Danford, sponsorship manager for Case IH. “He typically sells his paintings for thousands of dollars, so the potential donation to local FFA chapters is substantial.”
While I was never personally involved in FFA I have become increasingly impressed during my years as an Ag journalist by those in the program. Some FFA members I have met have gone on to become leaders in agriculture and have taken on other worthwhile community projects.
Ram Trucks needs to be praised for its “Year of the Farmer” campaign, which started with a bang earlier this year through what most people know as Paul Harvey’s Super bowl commercial. Case IH also deserves a round of applause for agreeing to match funds for local FFA chapters through the auction of Dunn’s art.
Most of all, thank you to the young, up-and-coming agricultural leaders now in FFA. You exemplify good leadership qualities.
