Pink bollworm (PBW) eradication will expand in 2007 into the western Arizona counties of La Paz and Mohave and the southeastern California counties of Riverside, Imperial, and San Bernardino counties, according to Arizona Cotton Research and Protection Council director Larry Antilla.
“The federal funds are in place for program expansion into those counties this year,” Antilla said. “The 24c is in place to allow 100 percent Bt cotton use in La Paz and Mohave counties. California has a crisis exemption allowing 100 percent Bt in the program in those areas where sterile moths are used.”
PBW eradication efforts will launch in ’08 in Yuma County, Ariz.
