Oats acreage down

Oats apparently were a casualty to corn and alfalfa this year. According to USDA/NASS California producers seed 26 percent less oat acreage this year than last.

USDA/NASS estimates California oat acreage at 200,000 for 2007.

Acreage expected to be harvested for grain totaled 25,000, 25 percent above 2006.
