Northern SJV crop moving ahead quickly

There isn’t much pest or disease pressure to report around the Linden area, according to Eric Groningen, PCA with Mid Valley Agricultural Services. “We just finished bloom sprays for mildew,” he says. “Bunch closure is right around the corner. With these mild temperatures, the grapes are moving fast.”

As with other areas, it’s been rather idyllic up to this point. “We’re seeing a few OLR in some places,” he says. “We’ve used Bt, sulfur dust and Intrepid for those, but it’s not much of a problem at this point. Typically, we only fight that problem on blocks that have a history of the pest. It’s not a widespread problem in this area. Overall, everything looks just fine right now.”
