MACA honors industry leaders

The Mid America CropLife Association (MACA) honored several industry, media and academic leaders at its recent annual meeting in Indianapolis, Ind.
The Ruth White Media Award is presented to an individual who’s demonstrated an evidence of consistent, objective and accurate reporting on American agriculture and the myriad of issues involved in modern agriculture, including the CropLife industry. This year’s winner is Forrest Laws and is someone who has spent most of his career writing about southern agriculture.
Laws is the Associate Publisher of the four Farm Press publications based in Cordova, Tenn. Since joining Farm Press 20 years ago, he was written extensively about all phases of production agriculture farm chemicals, marketing, and legislative/regulatory issues including each of the farm bills that have been passed since 1981.
He spent 10 years writing for the Memphis Press-Scimitar before joining the staff of Delta Farm Press as an associate editor. He became executive editor and began writing the Issues column in 1997.
A graduate of the University of Memphis he has interviewed farmers from Virginia to northern California and has traveled in Argentina, Brazil, Ireland, Egypt and Germany.
