Western Farm Press and DuPont Crop Protection have teamed up to offer a new online continuing education course for Pest Control Advisers and other licensed agricultural professionals in California and Arizona.

“The Role of Copper in Disease Control” is now available online at www.westernfarmpress.com and www.capca.com. It is the second course sponsored online by DuPont.

The course deals with crop diseases where copper is a key component in a disease control program. It also details the various copper formulations and the importance of copper stewardship in reducing the copper load in the soil.

It is accredited for two hours/credits for California Department of Pesticide Regulation and Arizona Department of Agriculture Pest Control Advisers (PCAs) and other agricultural licensees in both states and Certified Crop Advisers (CCA) in Arizona and California as well.

The other DuPont-sponsored course, “Lepidopterous Pest Management/Pesticide Safety Review,” went online a little more than two years ago and since then more than 1,250 courses have been completed for credit hours.

“DuPont is pleased to sponsor an opportunity for California and Arizona PCAs to earn continuing education credits. It provides an educational opportunity on our products and what they offer to those who use them as well as reaffirm the DuPont commitment to serving the ever-changing marketplace,” said Kim Diaz, DuPont Fungicide Portfolio Manager. “We look forward to continuing this partnership in the future.”

Mike Hemman, DuPont area sales, manager stated, “DuPont is committed to providing growers with tools that help them manage the multitude of diseases that arise in the Western agricultural markets. We are pleased to work with Western Farm Press to offer such a valuable resource and service to PCAs throughout the area.”

The DuPont-sponsored course represents the ninth provided free online by Western Farm Press, which began offering these free courses a little over three years ago.

Since then almost 11,000 courses have been completed for more than 30,000 CEU hours/credits.

It has been a popular program based on the comments from those who have completed courses.

Neil Phillips, Patterson, Calif. PCA and farm manager, stated, “I enjoyed taking your course. It was not only convenient, but saved gas and time. Thank you for having this available.” Patterson completed the DuPont Lepidopterous course.

“Thanks for the opportunity to get CEUs free of charge,” commented Bart Guidotti, independent PCA from Greenfield, Calif., after completing the Lepidopterous course.

All nine courses are accredited for 2007 hours by California and Arizona. They will be updated and re-accredited for 2008 hours with new course numbers.
