USDA releases new Crop Progress report

USDA released a new Crop Progress report on Monday, October 1. Corn harvest is now 31 percent complete, up from 19 percent at this time last year and the five-year average of 20 percent. Soybean harvest is 29 percent complete, compared to 18 percent at this time last year and a five-year average of 24 percent. Sorghum harvest is at 37 percent complete, up 3 percent from last year and the five-year average. Cotton harvest at 20 percent is down form 23 percent at this time last year, but is 2 percent ahead of the five-year average. Winter wheat planting progress is now 42 percent planted and 16 percent emerged, compared to a five-year average of 51 percent planted and 23 percent emerged.
