Herman re-elected California Pistachio Commission chairman

Kevin Herman, a pistachio grower from Madera, Calif. has been re-elected chairman of the California Pistachio Commission. (CPC) unanimously re-elected to serve as CPC chairman at their July 18 meeting.
Herman, a third-generation farmer, has been growing pistachios since 1985 and currently manages over 2,000 acres. He also owns the Specialty Crop Company, a farm management company.
In District I (Kern, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Tulare Counties), recently re-elected commissioners are Ron Clark (Clarklind Farms) and Chuck Nichols (Nichols Farms) with Clark’s alternate, Bill Phillimore (Paramount Farming Company).
In District II (Fresno, Kings, Madera and Merced Counties), Kevin Herman (Specialty Crop Company) was re-elected commissioner with alternate Jeff Curry (Jeff Curry & Associates).
In District III (Butte, Calaveras, Colusa, Contra Costa, Glenn, Inyo, Placer, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Sutter, Tehama and Yolo counties), the recently re-elected commissioner is Dan Hutfless (Ord Bend Farms). The new board began serving their two-year term July 1.
Continuing their 2005-07 terms on the CPC for District I are commissioners Ali Amin (Primex International Trading) and Jeff Gibbons (Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella) with Mr. Amin’s alternate, Richard Sandrini (R.B. Sandrini Farms), and Gibbons’ alternate, Jeff Yurosek (Yurosek Farms).
District II continuing commissioners are Bob Keenan (Keenan Farms) and David Sborov (Golden West Farming Cooperative), with Sborov’s alternate, Tom Coleman (Coleman Farming Company).
The election resulted in three vacant alternate commissioner positions, which were filled at the July 18 meeting. Randy Raber (Nichols Farms) was appointed alternate to Nichols; Ron Frye (Cosecha Farms) was appointed alternate to Keenan, and Don Parisio (Parisio Brothers) was appointed alternate to Mr. Hutfless.
