Cereal grain acreage up sharply

California's Durum wheat planted acreage is estimated at 90,000 acres, 29 percent above last year. The 85,000 acres for grain harvest are up 31 percent from 2006.
California’s acreage seeded to wheat other than Durum, according to USDA/NASS totaled 550,000 acres, up 22 percent from2006.
In California, an estimated 110,000 acres were seeded to barley for all purposes this year, up 22 percent from 2006, according to USDA/NASS. A total of 60,000 acres is expected to be harvested for grain, 8 percent below last year.
