Jun 29, 2007 10:30 AM

The Central Coast Cotton Conference will be celebrating its fifth anniversary this year Nov. 27-29 at the Monterey Plaza Hotel and Spa in Monterey, Calif..

Highlights for this year’s meeting include:

· Three Key Sessions to address important segments of the industry – Production and Agronomy, Technology and Techniques, and Industry Outlook.

· New Harvesting Technology – John Deere and Case IH will present information on their new cotton harvesting technology. Now that the pickers have been in the fields for the first year, the meeting will provide a chance to find out how they’ve been adopted and what growers think about the new technology.

· Key Speakers include Tom Ruehr, a soil scientist from Cal Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo; Cotton Breeders Hal Moser; Kater Hake of Delta & Pine Land Company and Jane Deever of FiberMax who will be talking about genetic advances in cotton physiology and fiber quality; Keynote speaker will be John Pucheu of Tranquility, Calif.,, chairman, National Cotton Council.

· Mite Fax Live! A unique presentation that will feature Mite Fax editor Owen Taylor drilling pest control advisors from across the San Joaquin Valley about important issues facing PCAs today. The featured PCAs are Nick Groenenberg, Dale Deshane and Chris Morgner.

The conference is the only California cotton production meeting of its kind. Attendees and supporters herald it as a great meeting and invaluable tool for the California cotton industry. But despite the great program, conference organizer Becky Zelinski said sponsorship support for the meeting has dwindled like the number of the cotton acres in California. She said they still need sponsors and exhibitors for this year’s meeting. If interested in sponsoring or exhibiting, please call Becky at (805) 239-8200 or for more information about the conference, visit www.cottonconference.com .

Western Farm Press is the official conference publication.
