New Broccoli Weed Management Option

Monterey County vegetable and weeds farm advisor Richard Smith noted that GoalTender 4F should be registered soon for over-the-top weed control on direct seeded broccoli and transplanted broccoli and cauliflower.

Goaltender provides an additional option for post-emergence weed control in broccoli, Smith said.

“It’s an additional tool for them to use to control some weeds that right now are a little more troublesome and expensive to deal with,” he said.

“GoalTender over the top on direct seeded broccoli is going to give the growers an additional tool to control some of the weed escapes that they are currently struggling to control in that crop, such as nettle weed or purslane, allowing them to very effectively burn those back especially in the main part of the summer.”
