The California Tree Fruit Agreement has been advised by USDA that listening sessions will be held for California nectarine and peach growers to voice their views on the future of their marketing order programs.

The announcement came after results of the latest industry referendum revealed a majority of the vote was in favor of continuation of the programs, but that the measure did not achieve a two-thirds majority to clearly show support of the programs. As such, USDA will hold a series of listening sessions in the growing areas sometime in the next few months to better determine the industry's wishes concerning continuation of the programs.
