The 2014 AgVentures! Day in late May drew about 1,600 fourth-grade students from Tulare and Visalia schools (Calif.) at the International Agri-Center.
Presentations at the second-annual event helped school children explore farming, and learn about safety and nutrition.
The event featured live animal demonstrations including an onsite dairy cow, horse, and sheep. Students enjoyed a nutrition-focused ‘What Does My Plate Say’ skit by the University of California Cooperative Extension Cal Fresh team.
The children sampled products from Rosa Brothers Milk, Sun Maid Raisins, Raisels, California Dried Plums, and Musco Family Olives.
