Traceability Initiative update at Fresh Connections event in Monterey on Jan. 13

Produce industry members in the Monterey, Calif., area can learn about the industry-wide Produce Traceability Initiative (PTI) at the Produce Marketing Association (PMA) Fresh Connections event on Jan. 13.

The event will feature an update on industry plans to achieve chain wide, electronic product traceability, according to Gary Fleming, PMA’s vice president of industry technology and standards.

The PTI action plan which was announced to the produce industry last August after an eight-month development process by a chain wide steering committee. Other topics will include DataBar, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), and Data Synchronization.

“Traceability will continue to be an industry hot topic in 2009,” Fleming said.

The event will be held at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Resort & Spa on the Del Monte Golf Course from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Monterey Fresh Connections event is open to PMA members and non-members. Registration is required with complimentary registration for PMA members and for a $50 fee for non-members.
