For the fourth consecutive year, Toyota will have a full presence as The Official Truck at the 2011 World Ag Expo, which runs Feb. 8 – 10 at the International Agri-Center (IAC) in Tulare, Calif.
Since 2008, the company’s full-sized Tundra pickup truck has been The Official Truck of the IAC and has been a year-round feature at the IAC including the California Antique Farm Equipment Show and other IAC events held on the grounds. “We’re proud to continue our partnership with Toyota,” said IAC President David Eddy. “The Tundra is built in America at Toyota’s plant in San Antonio, Texas, and has proven its ability to meet the needs of our county’s workhorse vehicle.”
On behalf of the Toyota Dealer Association and its Central Valley dealers, the company’s San Francisco Region will donate a 2011 Tundra Crew Max to benefit local Central and San Joaquin FFA chapters. Donation tickets ($5 each) are deposited in an FFA drum located in the expansive Toyota display area in the northwest corner of the 2.6 million square feet World Ag Expo show grounds.
Donations can also be made to members of the Central and San Joaquin FFA Chapters at each of the 8 ticket gates during World Ag Expo. Prior to the expo, Donations can be made online at worldagexpo.com.
Each online donation can be earmarked for a participating FFA chapter so that the funds generated from online sales go directly to that chapter. Funds generated from onsite sales will be split between participating chapters.
“When we introduced the full-sized Tundra in February, 2007 we knew that its capabilities would perfectly match the needs and challenges of the agricultural community,” said Tom Devany, general manager for Toyota’s San Francisco Region. “Central California farmers and ranchers have been important to our sales and marketing efforts and the Tundra has certainly proven its capabilities in the field – every day of the year. We are honored that the Tundra has been named The Official Truck of the IAC for the fourth year in a row.”
Toyota will feature two new updates for the 2011 Tundra lineup, a 4x2 long bed version and a new V6 power boost in its Regular and Double Cab models. Utilizing the same VVT-I (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence) technology found on the 4.6 and 5.7-liter V8 engines, the new V6 boasts 270 hp, up from last year’s 236 hp. The new engine configuration also boosts torque and is teamed with a five-speed automatic transmission with uphill and downhill shift logic.
The company’s Toyota Drive Center will showcase and provide a Ride-and-Drive opportunity for Expo attendees to test Toyota’s full lineup of rugged vehicles fit for farming life, including 2011 versions of the Tacoma pickup truck, the off-road-ready FJ Cruiser, the luxurious eight-passenger Sequoia and the Highlander SUV.
