Sonoma County Grape Day is Feb. 17 in Santa Rosa, Calif.

The Sonoma County Grape Day will be held on Feb. 17, at the Wells Fargo Center for the Arts in Santa Rosa, Calif.

The event is presented by the University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) and sponsored by the Sonoma County Winegrape Commission.

The program includes:

8:00 a.m. – Sign-in and refreshments

9:00 – Welcome and announcements

9:10 – “2008 update on effects of CPPU on fruit set in Merlot” – Rhonda Smith, Viticulture Advisor, Sonoma County, UC Cooperative Extension

9:45 – “Putting it all together: An integrated approach to vine mealybug management” – Monica Cooper, Research Associate, UC Berkeley

10:45 – Break

11:00 – “Short Shoot Syndrome associated with rust and bud mites” – Vaughn Walton, Department of Horticulture, Oregon State University

12:00 – “Epidemiology of canker disease and control strategies” – Doug Gubler, Extension Plant Pathologist, UC Davis

1:00 – Lunch (including Sonoma County wines).

The registration deadline is Feb. 9. The cost is $45 with lunch if registered by Feb. 9. Registration is $50 on the day of the event. Lunch may not be available for walk-in registration.
