From 1-4 p.m. Oct. 3: Pest control CE seminar at farm show

The Monterey Bay chapter of the California Agricultural Production Consultants (CAPCA) will once again sponsor a three-hour continuing education seminar at this year's Salinas Valley Farm Show, Oct. 3.
Scheduled for 1-4 p.m. in the Salinas Community Center, the seminar will feature presentations on weed control and insect pest management along with an update on state pesticide laws and regulations and pesticide re-registration as part of the Food Quality Protection Act, according to Tony Marci, seminar chairman and chapter representative on the CAPCA state board.
“We are looking for a good turnout at this year's continuing education seminar,” said Marci. “Topics are timely.”
“Tying in the CAPCA seminar with the farm show is a great opportunity for PCAs to visit the show in the morning and catch up on the latest products and technology available to pest control advisors and producers and attend an afternoon continuation seminar” said Marci.
“We appreciate the opportunity to work with the Gonzales Young Farmers in presenting our seminar during the farm show,” said Marci.

Vegetable Insect Pest Management Review by Bill Chaney, Monterey County University of California Cooperative Extension entomology farm advisor.
Vegetable Crop Weed Control Update by Richard Smith, Monterey County University of California Cooperative Extension weed control farm advisor.
California Pesticide Law Update by Bill Weddle, deputy Monterey County agricultural commissioner.
An update on the Food Quality Protection Act product re-registrations.
