Case opens pre-owned program

Case IH announces “Selected by Case IH” — a new program that provides peace-of-mind for buyers of pre-owned Case IH agricultural equipment.

Each “Selected by Case IH” tractor comes with a non-deductible power train warranty of 12 months or 1,000 hours, whichever comes first. The warranty covers the engine, transmission, axles and final drives.

With “Selected by Case IH”, buyers can be sure the tractor is reconditioned not only to look ‘as new’ but to perform ‘as new,’ says Randy Wood, Case IH product marketing manager for row-crop tractors and commercial re-marketing.

“Selected by Case IH” buyers will realize significant cost savings over purchasing a new tractor and will have the security of a company-backed warranty.

To earn the “Selected by Case IH” mark, pre-owned equipment must pass rigid and demanding standards, Wood says.

To be eligible for reconditioning, tractors must be clean, well maintained and have low hours. Once basic eligibility is established, tractors are measured against a detailed checklist to assure performance and reliability.

Tractors that meet the checklist requirements or undergo factory upgrades to be brought up to current standards will be distinguished with the “Selected by Case IH” badge.

“The first step is to drain all the driveline, hydraulic and cooling system fluids and filters and send samples to an independent testing lab for analysis,” Wood said. “The results of those comprehensive tests help determine which tractors will make our cut.”

Any parts or components that do not meet factory specifications are replaced. Upgrades are completed to bring the tractor up to current standards.

Buyers receive copies of the tractor's reconditioning checklist, as well as copies of an independent lab's fluid analysis, plus an owner's manual.

Initially, the “Selected by Case IH” program will be available only on 8900 Series Magnum tractors. The first reconditioned tractors will be available in dealerships in 2001.

In the future, look for additional tractor models, combines and implements with the Selected badge. “Selected by Case IH” tractors will be available exclusively through Case IH dealers.

The ABCs of MRLs

American agriculture exports 20 to 30 percent of its production annually. For specific commodities, the percentage is much higher. When recommending and applying pest management products for crops, license Pest Control Advisers (PCAs)  and applicators and farmers must be aware of which products applied are in compliance with Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) established by foreign customers. This CE course details the MRL issue and why compliance is critical to marketing into world trade.
