Morrison & Quirk Inc., a major custom hay and forage operation based in Lyon, Neb., recently announced that the company has cut 25,000 acres of hay in just two harvest seasons with the Krone Big M 30 self-propelled disk mower conditioner.
According to Mike Olson, manager of Morrison & Quirk, the company expects the total number of acres cut by the Big M to be near 35,000 by the end of the season.
"This kind of power is unique; no other system can match it!" Olson explains. "With harvesting speed of 10 miles per hour, we really can cut up to 35 acres an hour. We have almost tripled our productivity."
As for other attributes of the Big M, Olson sites the quality of its cutting and conditioning, its reliability, and the large harvester's turning ability. "Thanks to its hydrostatic drive system and rear-wheel steering, the Big M is extremely maneuverable. Regardless of where we are, we can operate without any problems."
