Kern County potato variety field day, Bakersfield
The annual University of California Cooperative Extension and California Potato Research Advisory Board Variety Trial Field Day will be held at Hart Memorial Park, eight miles northeast of downtown Bakersfield, on June 12, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is an opportunity to see how potentially new varieties performed this year and how they performed compared to standard varieties.
Hart Memorial Park is on Alfred Harrell Highway next to the Kern River. The field day will be at the east end of the park in Section 2. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
The annual potato growers dinner will be held the evening after the field day at Luigi's, 725 East 19th Street, Bakersfield, CA 93309. A no-host social begins at 5:30 p.m. and dinner is at 6:30 p.m.
