Grower cooperators sought for field trials in central Arizona

The University of Arizona (UA) Cooperative Extension Service is seeking several cotton, grain sorghum, and corn grower cooperators for field trails in Maricopa, Pinal, and Pima counties.

“We’re seeking two cotton growers for the 2009 Official Upland Cotton Variety Trial,” said Erin Taylor, UA extension agent for the Maricopa, Pinal, and Pima counties. “The study requires about 384 rows which can be adjusted as needed.”

Two cotton growers are sought for demonstrations with the soil fumigant Telone including an application each at planting and during the growing season.

UA is also seeking several cotton growers for lygus bug demonstrations with Taylor and UA entomologist Peter Ellsworth.

A cooperator is also sought for a grain sorghum variety trial, plus a dairyman willing to place the grain under contract.

Two corn growers are sought for trials with the insecticide/miticide Oberon.

The resulting data will be published.
