Fresno State Grape Day Aug. 10

Grape growers and winemakers from throughout the Western U.S. can attend the Fresno State Grape Day Aug. 10 at the university’s viticulture and enology facilities and vineyards.

The purpose of the event is to learn the latest research in viticulture, enology and grape microbiology, view demonstrations, and tour the award-winning student winery.

The biannual event, presented by the Fresno State Viticulture and Enology Research Center and Department of Viticulture and Enology, will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Fresno State faculty, staff, and students will present grape and wine research findings in 20 vineyard and equipment presentations, oral and poster presentations, and a hands-on activity in the Sensory Evaluation Lab.

Winemaster Ken Fugelsang and winery intern Steven DeCosta will provide a tour of the Fresno State winery facilities.

Students also will report on international learning experiences in Switzerland, Italy and France.

The cost to attend Grape Day is $15, and $5 for students with valid identification.

The event concludes with a lunch. Advance registration is encouraged.
