The USA Rice Federation has launched a “Rice for Haiti” campaign, soliciting donations from its members that will be used to purchase rice for the citizens of Haiti.

USA Rice members can donate via the organization’s Rice for Haiti. All contributions are voluntary and fully tax-deductible.

“The U.S. rice industry has long enjoyed a trade relationship with Haiti that is very meaningful to us,” USA Rice Chairman Jamie Warshaw said. “We would like to demonstrate our concern for their suffering by donating rice, which is a staple in the Haitian diet.”

The Rice Foundation will serve as the recipient of the donations and 100 percent of all proceeds will be used to purchase U.S. rice that will be donated to a charitable relief organization currently working in Haiti.

“Our hearts go out to those who have lost family and friends. We hope this small token will provide some relief to some of those who have suffered such a great loss,” Warshaw added.

Since the disasters struck Haiti, USA Rice and the entire U.S. rice industry has taken swift action to facilitate U.S. government procurement of rice for emergency food-aid to the Caribbean nation.
