Long-grain rice farmers have until Oct. 10 to submit a claim to be eligible for the settlement offered by Bayer CropScience over the genetically modified rice trait that was unintentionally introduced into the U.S. commercial market in 2006.  Rice growers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi and Missouri are eligible.

Settlement claims will be awarded based on the quantity of rice planted from 2006 through 2010. The law firm of BrownGreer PLC is administering the settlement, and farmers can access information about the settlement and application requirements at www.gmricesettlement.com.
