Farm Labor Supervisor - Farm Labor Contractor and Farm Employer Training

The University of California Cooperative Extension, in collaboration with the California Farm Labor Contractor Association (CFLCA), and Barkley Insurance, with funding from USDA office of Outreach and Advocacy invites you to join us for the 2013 Farm Labor Supervisor Training and Farm Labor Contractor and Agricultural Employer Update.

LOCATIONS AND DATES: The training is offered at four different Locations and Dates

· Tuesday - June 11, 2013: Escondido, CA (San Diego County Farm Bureau)

· Wednesday - June 12, 2013: Holtville, CA (UC Desert Research and Extension Center)

· Thursday - June 13, 2013: Indio, CA (USDA Service Center)

· Friday - June 14, 2013: Santa Paula, CA (UC Hansen Agricultural Center)

PROGRAM INFORMATION: This is a two-part program including

· Agricultural Supervisor Training (8:00 a.m. - Noon) designed to help all levels of supervisors to better understand their roles in labor management; basic labor and safety laws; and better manage the labor force for increased productivity and employee retention. (Presented in Spanish with English interpreting service)

· Farm Labor Contractors (FLCs) & Agricultural Employer Update (1:00 -4:00 p.m.) will update and answer participant questions on a range of labor issues, regulations, and new laws impacting FLCs and Farm employers, including, Immigration and Health Care Reform (ObamaCare); piece rate pay issues; and joint liability.  (Presented in English with Spanish interpreting service)

PRESENTERS:

· Guadalupe Sandoval - Executive Director of CFLCA with over 25 years experience in developing bilingual AG supervisor, worker, and FLC training programs.

· Ed McClements, Sr. VP of Benefits - Barkley Insurance and Expert on Health Care Reform as it effects agricultural employers.

HOW TO REGISTER:  The registration fee is $25.00 per person and it includes beverages, snacks, lunch and training materials. Participants can register and attend either or both of the sessions.  Onsite check in and continental breakfast will begin at 7:30 am for the morning session and at noon, during lunch for the afternoon session.

You may Register Online and pay with a credit card or you may download, print, complete and mail the Training Brochure and Registration Form along with check payable to UC REGENTS. Registrations received online or postmarked after Friday-June 7, 2013 are not guaranteed lunch. Please register early, space is limited!!
