DPR & PCA renewal exams

To the editor:

An article on the California Association of Pest Control Advisers (CAPCA) annual meeting posted on your Web site Nov. 27 (“More regulations on the horizon, advisors told”) contained some unfortunate misinformation.

Contrary to comments by CAPCA officials, the California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) has no plans to order annual PCA renewal exams.

The only new licensing regulation currently in the works is one that would help CAPCA members, by adding more flexibility on the department's continuing education requirements.

We thought CAPCA would support this, and it is another example of DPR efforts to work cooperatively with the regulated community while maintaining the high environmental standards that Californians expect us to uphold.

Sincerely,
Glenn Brank
DPR Assistant Director for Communications
