Avocado Rootstock Seminars, June 10-12
California avocado growers can learn the latest information on rootstocks at three Avocado Rootstock Seminars held June 10-12.
Topics will include: why use clonal rootstocks; the history of clonal rootstocks and how they are produced; an update on rootstock development in South Africa and California; and a California Avocado Commission-sponsored rootstock breeding update.
Speakers will include: Zelda Van Rooyen, Westfalia Technological Services, Tzaneen, South Africa; Mary Lu Arpaia, University of California, Riverside; and Tim Spann, California Avocado Commission.
The first workshop will be held June 10 from 1-3 p.m. at the UCCE Office/Auditorium, 2156 Sierra Way, San Luis Obispo, Calif.
The second workshop is June 11 from 9-11 a.m. at the UCCE Office, 669 County Square Drive, Ventura, Calif.
The final seminar is June 12 from 9-11 a.m. at the Public Library , 124 S. Mission Rd., Fallbrook, Calif.
The seminar sponsors include the California Avocado Society, California Avocado Commission, and the University of California Cooperative Extension.
