Field crops

Small grain harvesting is 35 percent complete.

Cotton planting is complete across Arizona and 7 percent has started to square. Cotton conditions range from poor to excellent depending on the location. Most areas are in fair to good condition.

Alfalfa conditions are fair to excellent depending on the location. Most areas are in good to excellent condition. Harvesting is active on over two-thirds of the state’s acreage. Range and pasture conditions vary from poor to excellent depending on the location.

Vegetables, fruit, and specialty crops

Central Arizona growers shipped cantaloupes, honeydews, onions, and potatoes. Western Arizona growers shipped cantaloupes, honeydews, and seedless watermelons this week.

Weather

Temperatures were mostly above normal across Arizona for the week ending June 6 ranging from 7 degrees below normal at Parker to 6 degrees above normal at Prescott and Grand Canyon.

The highest temperature of the week was 109 degrees at Coolidge. The lowest reading at 27 degrees occurred at Grand Canyon.

There was no precipitation reported at any of the 22 stations this week. Three out of the 22 weather stations have below normal precipitation to date.
