A panel of market experts will discuss these factors and other news behind the market – and provide some pricing strategies – at the Cotton Market Roundtable, beginning at 8 a.m. CDT July 19.
All you need for the Web event is Internet access and Real Player software. The experts will discuss today’s cotton market including: crop conditions, domestic demand, exports and farm policy.
Panelists include Carl Anderson, Extension economist, Texas A&M University, who will bring everyone up to date on Texas crop conditions; Jarral Neeper, assistant vice president, call pool operations and economics, Calcot, who will provide an update on western crop conditions; and O.A. Cleveland, economist and professor emeritus, Mississippi State University, who will sum up the Southeast and Mid-South cotton crops. Special guest Joe T. Nicosia, CEO, Allenberg Cotton Co., will provide a cotton market outlook.
The Roundtable will be broadcast from the New York Board of Trade’s new Hudson Street facility in New York City. The former location at the World Trade Center was destroyed in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
For the first time, cotton producers from the United States will participate in an educational session prior to the event.
“We are expanding this year’s meeting to invite cotton farmers and county agents to New York,” said Patrick McClatchy, executive director, Ag Market Network, a co-sponsor of the event.
“Our usual Cotton Market Roundtable will be preceded on July 18 by a NYBOT mock trading session. This will allow our guests to get a real feel for what happens each day to establish cotton prices. This is very rare for NYBOT to open up their floor for simulated session. It should prove very enlightening as well as entertaining.”
The mock session will be followed by dinner that evening hosted by NYBOT and Bayer Crop Science. For more information on the pre-event, contact Pat McClatchy at 888-795-8071.
