Almond May forecast down 15 percent from 2002 crop

The 2003 estimate is down 15 percent from the 2002 crop of about 1.082 billion pounds to-date. CASS forecast the 2002 bearing acreage to be 530,000 acres.

The objective measurement survey, which uses sample almond counts to forecast the crop, will be released June 26.
