Two new University of California studies show the cost of producing almonds in the northern San Joaquin Valley.
One study shows current per acre establishment and production costs for almond growers using micro-sprinklers. The other study shows almond production costs with flood irrigation. The studies can be used to make productions decisions, determine potential returns, prepare budgets and evaluate production loans.
The two studies — Sample Costs to Establish an Almond Orchard and Produce Almonds in the Northern San Joaquin Valley, Flood Irrigation and Sample Costs to Establish an Almond Orchard and Produce Almonds in the Northern San Joaquin Valley, Micro-Sprinkler Irrigation are available from the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics, University of California, One Shields Avenue, Davis, CA 95616 and from local UC Cooperative Extension offices.
