The Almond Board of California has released nomination results for the board of director positions for terms of office beginning March 1, 2008.

The names of the following nominees, all from California, have been sent to the U.S. secretary of agriculture for certification:

Independent grower:

Member position one (1-year term) - David Arakelian, Livingston
Alternate position one - Brad Klump, Escalon

Independent handler:

Member position one (3-year term) - Dave Phippen, Ripon
Alternate position one - Ron Fisher, Modesto

Member position three (1-year term) - Keith Rigg, LeGrand
Alternate position three - Dean Nelson, Kerman

Cooperative grower:

Member (3-year term) - John Thoming, Tracy
Alternate - George Goshgarian, Fresno

Cooperative handler:

Member (3-year term) - Doug Youngdahl, Sacramento
Alternate - Susan Brauner, Sacramento

Bill Brush has been nominated for the cooperative grower member position vacated by Dan Cummings. Cummings was nominated for the cooperative grower alternate position.

The Almond Board of California administers a grower-enacted Federal Marketing Order under the supervision of the United States Department of Agriculture. Established in 1950, the Board’s charge is to promote the best quality almonds, California’s largest tree nut crop.
