- Nunes demands immediate investigation into the actions of Secretary Salazar and others at Interior in relation to California water policy.
On Sept. 22, CAFA received an email from the office of California Congressman Devin Nunes (R-21st district). The press release and letter made it clear there’s no love lost between him and Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar. The email is titled, “Federal Court Eviscerates Obama Administration’s California Water Policy”. Nunes is asking for congressional oversight to investigate the Department of Interior due to the court ruling that “questioned the integrity and leadership of the department”.
“The House,” said Nunes, “should open an immediate investigation into the actions of Secretary Salazar and others at Interior in relation to California water policy.” Congressman Nunes, who authored the San Joaquin Valley Water Reliability Act, said that Salazar “remains committed to reducing California’s water supply.” Nunes cited a recent speech in San Francisco in which the Secretary “re-affirmed his agency’s vision for California, which is projected to dry up hundreds of thousands of acres of farmland in the San Joaquin Valley.”
