2008 Stanislaus County mid-season processing tomato variety trial field day Sept. 30

Time: 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

The trial is located in Westley east of Hwy 33 between Cox and Vineyard Rds. The trial contains 12 varieties in the replicated block and another 8 lines in the observation block. The trial was transplanted on May 29, 2008 into double-rows, 60-inch-wide beds and subsurface drip-irrigated. The field variety is AB2. The trial is approaching maturity and harvest is expected to occur in early-October. There will be an update and discussion on the current season’s pest and disease problems and current research efforts aimed at their management.

The trial this year is conducted in cooperation with Stanislaus County grower Leroy Del Don (Del Don Farms, Inc.) and ranch manager John Campos (Del Don Farms, Inc.).
